Join the Studying on Empty

Student Contingent !

This Labour Day, students and youth from across Toronto are marching
together to show their solidarity for an increase in the minimum wage.

It is time that the Government of Ontario raises the minimum wage to a
living wage of $10/hr. It has been eight long years since the minimum wage
was increased, despite the fact that inflation has gone up by 20%.
Everything from tuition to rent to hydro has skyrocketed in the last 10
years. It is increasingly difficult to afford a post-secondary education in
Ontario. Students are studying on empty - working more and more hours at
paltry pay, just to afford the minimum. Enough is enough!

Join the Ryerson Students’ Administrative Council on September 1, 2003 to
show the Government of Ontario that you DEMAND a living wage.NOW!

Meet at Ryerson University 9:30 am at Lake Devo, located on the corner of
Victoria Street and Gould Street, for early morning beverages and snacks.
From Ryerson, the group will leave at 10am to join the CUPE contingent at
400 University Avenue. If you arrive late look for the STUDYING ON EMPTY
banner and join the parade which heads down University Avenue, and then
west on Queen Street to Dufferin Street.

All parade marchers are admitted into the Canadian National Exhibit for
FREE! What a great orientation event for newcomers on campus!

We look forward to marching with you this Labour Day!
