The PreHistory of The Far Side. A 10th Anniversary Exhibit by Gary Larson
For some odd reason it is always very difficult to put down comics. Its like once you’ve started on them, you keep wanting more. This book is a collection of “The Far Side” comic strip which I borrowed off Abbas. Thoroughly enjoyed it. However tried to find sample strips online but looks like the author wants to make sure he gets every penny (or if he’s dead his family does). Ah well. The comic reminded me a tad of how Bizzaro used to be. Personally its quality has gone down, but at one point was quite a riot.

I’m allergic to bullshit - Det. Del Spooner
I tend to have the most inane reasons for watching movies. For this one it was the 2004 Audi RSQ Concept. Wasnt disappointed as far as the car went. As for the rest of the movie, I expected better. Dont get me wrong, was fairly good, however it never quite managed to build up the story properly, everything was completely predictable, Will Smith overdid the brooding contenance, and most of the jokes were flatter than pancakes. However…. the animation was good. The robots were potrayed convincingly and were quite formidable. Personally, considering (SPOILER COMING UP) that Will Smith has a fair amount of robotic material in his body, the director could have played that up. In this movie, the robotic arm only comes into play maybe once, twice at most. In short, wasnt a bad movie just not what one expects of Will Smith. Now see Independence Day…THAT was a fun movie.

King Arthur: I am your king.
Woman: Well I didn’t vote for you.
King Arthur: You don’t vote for kings.
Woman: Well how’d you become king then?
[Angelic music plays... ]
King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.
Dennis: [interrupting] Listen, strange women lyin’ in ponds distributin’ swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
–Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Read all the King Arthur legends long ago. Were great fun. Was going to post a quote from the 2004 King Arthur, but I think the quotes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail are far better. Actually I think I’m going to rent that movie again this weekend. Was the most hilarious stuff I’ve ever watched. Though I suppose one might need to have some background regarding King Arthur and British history in general to get most of it. I’m already in fits after reading the quotes. heeeeeeeee.
As for the 2004 version of king Arthur… I liked. Entertaining movie. Better than I expected. I expected it to be a tad more humourous since it was the same chap who directed Pirates of the Caribbean (which btw is another one of my favourites) but ah well. It was an interesting take on the whole legend.

ejilbab: Islamic clothing for her.
Origin of the word “Mosque”: Got an email recently which was sort of a petition against the word Mosque due to the reason stated in the question in this link. Was curious so looked it up. I think this url explains it pretty well. Although as usual havent had time to read more than half. I seem to have quite a few Islamic links showing up in my mailbox of late. Maybe its a sign. hmm.
