King Arthur: I am your king.
Woman: Well I didn’t vote for you.
King Arthur: You don’t vote for kings.
Woman: Well how’d you become king then?

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.
Dennis: [interrupting] Listen, strange women lyin’ in ponds distributin’ swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
–Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Read all the King Arthur legends long ago. Were great fun. Was going to post a quote from the 2004 King Arthur, but I think the quotes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail are far better. Actually I think I’m going to rent that movie again this weekend. Was the most hilarious stuff I’ve ever watched. Though I suppose one might need to have some background regarding King Arthur and British history in general to get most of it. I’m already in fits after reading the quotes. heeeeeeeee.
As for the 2004 version of king Arthur… I liked. Entertaining movie. Better than I expected. I expected it to be a tad more humourous since it was the same chap who directed Pirates of the Caribbean (which btw is another one of my favourites) but ah well. It was an interesting take on the whole legend.
