Seven Nation Army

Looks like a full moon tonight. Reminds me of witching hour. Some audio story I once heard .. “13 O’clock”. Oh well.. Would like to read all those books again.

Current Playlist:

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
Try - Nelly Furtado
Mukh Gaye Nay - Junoon

Tried to find a translation of Mukh Gaye Nay online… but alas is not to be. Will try and do some myself and post if I ever get around to it.

“For the record … the good ones do their own dishes” - Dinah Lance a.k.a. The Black Canary

Twas a fun read. Book by Kevin Smith of Dogma fame which I found sacrilegious even though it wasnt my religion being poked fun at. Deals quite typically with the same issues Smith does in his movies. Theres the obvious gay reference and women’s liberation. However considering some of his movies tend to actually poke fun at women, I’m not quite sure who’s side he’s on. Book was interesting since it had plenty of twists. Plot didnt give itself away mainly because it just keeps changing. Would probably not recommend it to anyone who does not have a comic book or cartoon background. I think having background knowledge helped since there were a lot of references to prior events. In short a look at what comic book hero’s have to face in real life. Well a very brief look. Theres still plenty of the usual impossible action.

Dex Dearborn : [walks in on Joe aiming a gun at Polly] Oh, good, we all made up then?
- Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow

Well that was the only quote I could find which was remotely funny. Seem to have forgotten the rest of the dialogue. The gist is… it was more of a cross between a detective novel of the 70s and pulp fiction. Except there wasn’t any nudity. I think was set about the 1930s. I find it a little weird how everyone took so calmly to the robots but ah well. I suppose we just presume our predecessors would have been awed by current technology. Storyline was pretty much same old with a twist or two. I liked the idea of boarding a Zeppelin from the Empire State Building. The banter between Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrov was pretty entertaining too. Angelina Jolie’s role was a tad annoying. The usual meglomaniacal villian out to ruin the world. Entertaining though, I have to give it that.

Burnt River

Was helping the pub with some data entry and came across someone who hailed from a place called Burnt River. Wonder how someone could give such a depressive name to a community. Or well I guess it’s a way of looking at it. Burnt River does have that poetic tinge to it. Something like burning bridges.

We desperately need a siamese kitten. Preferably free since we really can’t afford to pay hundreds of dollars for it. Consider it a noble cause. Prince has been gone a few months now and its been quite depressing. Holler if you know anyone who just had a litter.

If you want SisterSwim information for October at Meadowvale Community Centre, give me a shout.
