Dex Dearborn : [walks in on Joe aiming a gun at Polly] Oh, good, we all made up then?
- Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow
Well that was the only quote I could find which was remotely funny. Seem to have forgotten the rest of the dialogue. The gist is… it was more of a cross between a detective novel of the 70s and pulp fiction. Except there wasn’t any nudity. I think was set about the 1930s. I find it a little weird how everyone took so calmly to the robots but ah well. I suppose we just presume our predecessors would have been awed by current technology. Storyline was pretty much same old with a twist or two. I liked the idea of boarding a Zeppelin from the Empire State Building. The banter between Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrov was pretty entertaining too. Angelina Jolie’s role was a tad annoying. The usual meglomaniacal villian out to ruin the world. Entertaining though, I have to give it that.
actually the initial function and purpose of the height of the empire state building was to park zeppelin’s there. there were moor mast’s setup there and then later the project was scrapped as nobody had anticipated the high winds would have torn the zeppelin from it’s moorings.
in case you’re wondering, anon was me.
